Sell-through is the share of stock you received that has sold. It's the quickest way to see which products or drops are working and which need a markdown.

What's in the template

Sell-through tab

SKU or drop, Units received, Units sold, Weeks on sale, Sell-through %, Units left, Units sold per week, Weeks of stock left

White cells are inputs. Green cells are formulas, so don't type over them. Sample rows are included so you can see how it works. Delete them and add your own.

How to use it

  1. Enter units received for the product or drop.
  2. Enter units sold so far and how many weeks it has been on sale.
  3. Compare sell-through between products launched at the same time.
  4. Use weeks of stock left to decide on reorders or markdowns.
  5. Reorder winners early, while there is still lead time to spare.

Sell-through = units sold ÷ units received

What's a good sell-through rate?

For a seasonal drop, many stores aim for 60 to 80 percent before markdowns. For core products, look at weekly pace and weeks of stock left instead.

Should returns count?

Subtract returned units from units sold if they went back into stock.
