Free reorder point template

Free reorder point spreadsheet for Excel and Google Sheets.

One row per product. Type in what you sold, what you have and how long your supplier takes. The sheet works out the reorder point, how many days of stock you have left, how many days until you need to order, and how many units to buy, rounded to the case pack.

What's in the template

Reorder plan tab

SKU, Product, Supplier, Units sold (period), Days in period, On hand, On order, Lead time (days), Safety stock (days), Order should last (days), Case pack, Daily sales, Reorder point, Days of stock left, Order in (days), Suggested order qty, Status

How to use it

  1. Pick a sales period, 28 days is a good default, and enter units sold for each SKU.
  2. Enter on hand and anything already on order but not received.
  3. Enter the supplier lead time in days, from placing the order to stock on the shelf.
  4. Choose safety days (7 is common) and how many days each order should last.
  5. Sort by 'Order in (days)', smallest first. Anything at 0 or below is due now.

The math

Reorder point = daily sales × (lead time + safety days)
Order qty = daily sales × (lead time + days each order should last) − (on hand + on order)

FAQ

Does this template work in Google Sheets?

Yes. In Google Sheets go to File, Import, Upload, and pick the .xlsx file. All formulas are standard ones that Sheets supports.

What lead time should I use?

The full time from placing the order to having stock ready to sell: supplier production, shipping, customs and receiving. If it varies, use a typical slow order, not the fastest one.
