How to write a purchase order
- Give it a unique PO number and the date.
- Add your details and the supplier's, plus where the goods should ship.
- List every item with quantity and agreed unit cost. Include the supplier's SKU so they can't pick the wrong item.
- Add shipping, tax, the expected delivery date and payment terms.
- Send it and ask the supplier to confirm the ship date in writing.

How do I save the purchase order as a PDF?
Click Download PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog. On a phone, use Share, then Print, then save.
Can I make purchase orders in Shopify?
Yes. Shopify admin can create purchase orders and receive stock against them. SteadyShelf adds what Shopify leaves out: it works out what to order and when from your sales and lead times, drafts the PO and emails it to your supplier.
What PO number should I use?
Any system that never repeats. Many stores start at 1001 and count up, so each order has a unique number to match against invoices.
