Shopify inventory reports: what each one tells you and how to use it
A practical tour of Shopify's inventory reports (sell-through, days remaining, ABC analysis and more) and the reorder decisions each one helps with.
Shopify's inventory reports live under Analytics > Reports (filter by Inventory). Which ones you see depends on your plan. These are the ones that matter for reordering:
Inventory on hand / month-end inventory
What you have now, and snapshots at the end of each month. Useful for accounting and spotting creep in total inventory value. Pair it with the inventory turnover calculator.
Average inventory sold per day
Units sold divided by days in the range, per variant. This is your sales velocity, the main input to every reorder formula. Set it to the last 28 or 30 days. Watch for products that were out of stock part of that time, because their pace will look slower than it really is.
Percent of inventory sold / sell-through rate
What share of available stock sold in the period. Low numbers flag over-buys before they become dead stock. Check any product with the sell-through calculator.
Days of inventory remaining
An estimate of how many days until each product runs out. The single most useful report for reordering, as long as you compare it with the lead time. See days of stock calculator.
ABC analysis
Grades variants by revenue contribution: A products make up roughly 80% of revenue, B the next 15%, C the rest. Spend your attention (and safety stock) on the A's.
What the reports don't do
None of them know your supplier lead times, case packs or minimums, so none of them can tell you the date to order or the quantity. That's the step SteadyShelf automates: it takes the same Shopify sales data, adds each supplier's lead time, and gives every product an order-by date and suggested quantity.

FAQ
Where are inventory reports in Shopify?
In Shopify admin, go to Analytics > Reports and filter the category to Inventory.
Does Shopify have a days of inventory remaining report?
Yes, on eligible plans. It estimates days until stockout from recent sales. Compare it with each supplier's lead time to know whether you're already late.
Can Shopify reports tell me what to reorder?
Not directly. They show history and current stock. Turning that into what to order, how much and by when takes a reorder point per product.
