Managing suppliers and lead times
Add suppliers, set lead times and minimums, and assign products by vendor.
Supplier settings
- Name: shown on the plan and on purchase orders.
- Lead time (days): days from placing an order to having stock on your shelf. This drives every order-by date, so the more accurate it is, the better your plan. Include shipping and the time it takes you to check stock in.
- Order email (optional): where purchase orders are sent when you click Send to supplier.
- Min order units (optional): the supplier's minimum order.
Assigning products
Products are assigned by their Shopify Vendor field. On the Suppliers page, use Assign products by vendor to point a vendor at a supplier, or Create a supplier for each vendor to set them all up in one click (14-day lead time each, which you can edit).
To assign product by product (for example, one vendor bought from two suppliers), use a spreadsheet with SKUs and import it.
Deleting a supplier
Deleting a supplier unassigns its products. Their forecasts stay; you just can't put them on a purchase order until they're assigned again.
FAQ
What lead time should I use?
Use the time from sending the order to the stock being sellable in your store, on a normal order. If a supplier is sometimes late, keep their real typical lead time and raise the safety buffer in Settings instead.
Can a product have two suppliers?
Each product is assigned to one supplier at a time. If you switch suppliers, reassign it and update the lead time.
