How to set reorder points in Shopify
Shopify doesn't have a reorder point field. Here are three ways to run reorder points for your store, from a spreadsheet to fully automatic.
What a reorder point is
When available stock (on hand plus on order) drops to this number, place the order. Every product gets its own, because sales pace and suppliers differ.
Option 1: a spreadsheet
- Export Shopify's average inventory sold per day report for the last 28 days.
- Add columns for supplier, lead time and safety days.
- Reorder point = sold per day × (lead time + safety days).
- Each week, paste in current stock and filter for anything at or below its reorder point.
Free and transparent, but it goes stale the moment you stop updating it.
Option 2: Shopify Flow thresholds
Use a Flow low-stock template and set the threshold to each product's reorder point. Works for a handful of products. You'll have to keep updating thresholds as sales change. See low stock alerts in Shopify.
Option 3: an app that recalculates them
SteadyShelf recalculates every product's reorder point daily from recent Shopify sales, the season and its supplier's lead time. It shows the order-by date and quantity with the math, and drafts the purchase order for you to approve. $29/month flat.
Try the numbers for one product first in the reorder point calculator.

FAQ
Can you set a reorder point in Shopify?
Not as a per-product field that drives purchasing. You can set thresholds in Shopify Flow low-stock workflows, and min/max stock limits that Sidekick respects when it drafts orders.
How often should reorder points change?
Whenever sales pace or lead time changes. In practice, recalculate at least monthly, and before your busy season.
Do I need a reorder point for every product?
For anything you buy from a supplier and want to keep in stock, yes. One-off and made-to-order items don't need one.
