Inventory management for Shopify lash and brow brands
Lash and brow brands live or die on having the right curl, length, and tint shade in stock, not just the right total unit count. SteadyShelf helps you track reorder timing per variant so you stop guessing and stop running out of your best sellers.
The inventory problems lash and brow brands run into
- Variant explosion. a single lash style can come in 10+ curl and length combinations (C curl 8mm, D curl 10mm, and so on), and each one sells at a different rate, so a single reorder point for "lashes" does not work.
- Shade and tone matching. brow tints, pigments, and brow powders come in multiple shades, and running out of one mid-popular shade (like medium brown) frustrates stylists and clients more than running out of a rare shade.
- Expiry on wet product. adhesives, tints, and pigments have real shelf lives and can degrade or separate before they sell through, especially slow-moving shades or glue bought in bulk to hit a supplier discount.
- Mixed supplier types. many brands blend a domestic lash vendor for fast turns with an overseas manufacturer for private label trays, so lead times and MOQs differ sharply SKU to SKU.
- Kit and tray components. full lash trays, lash books, and brow kits bundle multiple individual items, which makes it easy to lose track of which single component is actually running low.
Seasonality and demand
Lash and brow demand tracks events more than seasons: prom and wedding season in spring, holiday party season in November and December, and a steady bump around graduation and summer vacations when people want low-maintenance brow tint instead of daily makeup. Influencer or TikTok mentions of a specific curl or shade can spike demand on one variant with little warning. Plan by building extra safety stock ahead of known calendar peaks (prom, holidays) and watch sell-through weekly rather than monthly, since a trending shade can sell out in days during a spike.
Suppliers, lead times and minimums
Lash and brow brands typically order from a mix of domestic distributors who hold stock of popular strip and cluster lashes with shorter turnaround, and overseas manufacturers (often based in China or South Korea) for private label trays, custom packaging, or bulk adhesive, where overseas suppliers often take several weeks to produce and ship. Case packs are common for lashes (sold in trays of 10 or 20 pairs) and tints or adhesives often carry a minimum order quantity by shade or SKU to make small-batch manufacturing worthwhile for the supplier.
Worked example
Say you sell a D curl 10mm lash tray and average 4 trays sold per day. Your domestic lash supplier has a 10 day lead time, and you keep 5 safety days as a buffer. Reorder point = 4 x (10 + 5) = 60 trays, meaning you should trigger a reorder once stock hits 60. If you want 20 days of total cover and currently hold 50 trays on hand with 30 already on order, order quantity = 4 x (10 + 20) - (50 + 30) = 120 - 80 = 40 trays, which your supplier sells in case packs of 10, so you would round up to 40 trays evenly.
Try it with your own numbers in the reorder point calculator, or size your buffer with the safety stock calculator.
A simple system to start this week
- List every curl, length, and shade as its own tracked variant, not a single parent product.
- Set lead time and safety days separately for domestic versus overseas suppliers.
- Flag adhesives and tints for manual shelf-life review since SteadyShelf does not track expiry dates.
- Check supplier case pack and MOQ requirements before approving suggested order quantities.
- Watch weekly sell-through closely around prom, holidays, and any social media mentions of a specific style.
- Reconcile kit or tray components manually if a bundle sells faster than its individual restocked parts.
How SteadyShelf fits lash and brow brands
SteadyShelf forecasts each lash curl, length, and brow shade as its own variant and tells you when to reorder from each supplier based on that supplier's lead time. It rounds suggested quantities to your supplier's case packs and minimums, drafts the purchase order, and emails it on your approval. It does not track expiry dates on adhesives or tints, so you still need a manual check on shelf life for wet products, and it does not manage bundles or kits as a single unit, so multi-item trays need separate attention if their components sell at different rates.

FAQ
Can SteadyShelf track expiry dates on lash adhesive or brow tint?
No. SteadyShelf forecasts sales and reorder timing but does not do lot or expiry tracking. Keep a simple manual log (spreadsheet or supplier batch sheet) for adhesive and tint expiry dates, and use that alongside SteadyShelf's reorder alerts so you do not over-order slow-moving shades close to their expiry.
I sell lash kits that bundle strip lashes, tweezers, and glue. Will SteadyShelf manage the kit as one SKU?
SteadyShelf does not handle bundles or BOM-style kits. It forecasts and reorders based on the individual SKUs you track in Shopify. If your kit is its own listed product, you will need to manually watch whether its components (glue, tweezers, lash style) are restocking at the same pace as the kit sells, since SteadyShelf treats each listing independently.
I stock lash trays in my studio and also ship from a separate warehouse. Does SteadyShelf split reorder recommendations by location?
No. SteadyShelf does not do multi-location transfers or location-specific forecasting. It works off your total Shopify inventory per variant. If you run multiple locations, you will need to manage internal stock transfers yourself and use SteadyShelf's reorder suggestions as a guide for total company-wide stock, not per-location splits.
