SteadyShelf FAQ

Answers to the questions merchants ask most.

FAQ

What does SteadyShelf do?

It tells you what to reorder, when, and how much, for every product in your Shopify store, based on your real sales and each supplier's lead time. Then it builds purchase orders, emails them to suppliers, and updates Shopify stock when deliveries arrive.

How much does it cost?

$29 every 30 days after a 30-day free trial, billed through Shopify. One plan, no per-SKU fees.

Is SteadyShelf a Stocky replacement?

Yes. It covers Stocky's core job: reorder suggestions, purchase orders and receiving. We'll also move your suppliers over for free, since Stocky can't export them.

Does it work with Shopify POS?

Yes. POS sales are Shopify orders, so they count toward your sales rate like online orders.

Does it change my inventory?

Only when you receive a purchase order. Then it adds the received units at the location you choose. It never changes stock on its own.

Does it store customer data?

No. It reads order line items to count units sold per product per day. It doesn't store customer names, emails or addresses.

How do I contact support?

Email support@steadyshelf.app. A real reply, usually within a few hours, 7 days a week.

How long does setup take?

About five minutes for most stores: install, type a lead time for each vendor, pick how many days each order should cover, done.

Do I need to tag or reorganize my products first?

No. SteadyShelf uses the Vendor field you already have in Shopify. Products with no vendor can be assigned to a supplier later on the Suppliers page.

Why does a product say Order now when I still have stock?

Because stock left is less than the supplier's lead time plus your safety buffer. For example, 20 days of stock with a 21-day lead time and 7-day buffer means you're already late to reorder.

Why is the suggested quantity 0 for a red item?

It can happen if stock on hand, including incoming purchase orders, already covers lead time plus your order cover days. Check Show math to see each step.

Does SteadyShelf use multiple locations?

Forecasts are store-wide: SteadyShelf adds up available stock across all your locations. When you receive a purchase order you choose which location the stock goes to.

Why is my forecast different from last year's numbers?

On install, Shopify only lets apps read the last 60 days of orders, so seasonality starts once SteadyShelf has built up about 13 months of history. Until then the plan uses your recent sales rate.

What lead time should I use?

Use the time from sending the order to the stock being sellable in your store, on a normal order. If a supplier is sometimes late, keep their real typical lead time and raise the safety buffer in Settings instead.

Can a product have two suppliers?

Each product is assigned to one supplier at a time. If you switch suppliers, reassign it and update the lead time.

Will importing twice create duplicate suppliers?

No. Suppliers are matched by name (ignoring capital letters), so a second import updates them instead of duplicating.

Can I import my old Stocky purchase orders?

No. Historical purchase orders can't be moved into Shopify or SteadyShelf. Your sales history comes straight from Shopify, so forecasts don't need them.

Does the supplier see it came from SteadyShelf?

The email is sent in your store's name with a small line saying it was sent with SteadyShelf on your behalf, and replies go to your store email.

Does SteadyShelf create purchase orders inside Shopify admin?

No. Shopify doesn't let apps create purchase orders in its native purchase order screen yet, so your POs live in SteadyShelf. Receiving them still updates your Shopify inventory.

Why is a unit cost blank?

That product has no Cost per item set in Shopify. Add it on the product page in Shopify and click Sync now in SteadyShelf.

I received the wrong quantity. How do I fix it?

Adjust the stock in Shopify admin (Products → Inventory), then click Sync now in SteadyShelf (or wait for the daily sync) to pick up the corrected number.

Does receiving update cost per item?

Not today. Receiving updates stock quantities only. Your cost per item in Shopify stays as it is.

Why can't I receive a draft PO?

Only sent POs can be received. Send it, or mark it as sent, first.

How do I stop the Monday email?

Settings → Weekly reorder email → uncheck Send me the weekly reorder email, then save.

Can I set a different safety buffer per product?

Not yet. The safety buffer is store-wide. You can set case packs and minimum order quantities per product through import.

I just changed a product in Shopify. Why don't I see it?

New orders update on their own. Stock levels and product details like vendor, SKU and cost refresh on the daily sync. Click Sync now to pull them right away.

Why are some products missing?

SteadyShelf skips gift cards, products that don't track inventory, and products that aren't active.

Can I get a refund?

Email support@steadyshelf.app with your store address and what happened. Refunds are handled case by case.

Is there an annual plan?

Not right now. It's $29 every 30 days, cancel any time.

Still stuck? Email support@steadyshelf.app. A real reply, usually within a few hours, 7 days a week. Include your store's .myshopify.com address and a screenshot if you can.
