Fill rate calculator

What share of customer demand did you ship from stock? A quick measure of how often stockouts are costing you sales.

The fill rate formula

Fill rate = units shipped from stock ÷ units ordered × 100

Example: customers ordered 1,200 units and you shipped 1,130 from stock. Fill rate = 94.2%. The 70 missed units are lost or delayed sales. Put a price on them with the stockout cost calculator.

Improving it

Misses almost always come from a few SKUs ordered too late. Compare their days of stock with supplier lead time using the days of stock calculator.

FAQ

What is a good fill rate?

Most stores want to fill nearly every order from stock. Track it monthly and look at which SKUs cause the misses.

Fill rate vs service level?

Service level is the chance of not running out during a lead time, which you plan for. Fill rate is what actually happened: the share of demand you shipped from stock.
